9 Months!!

Well this is a first! I am actually doing a post on time rather than really late in the month. Today Rowan is 9 months old! It is really hard to believe that she has now been alive for as long as I was pregnant. It actually makes the pregnancy seem really long since I can't imagine a time without her in my life.
She is changing so much now and it is fun watching her learn new things everyday. The biggest accomplishment this past month is that she has finally learned to crawl! She is super active now and is moving everywhere. It's also a great way for her to get some exercise. I make her crawl to whatever she wants and don't carry her around the house anymore. Plus it tires her out which is great for getting her to take a nap. :)
She is also trying to pull up and is starting to at least get up on one knee. She hasn't quite mastered pulling up all the way but I don't think it will be too much longer. We lowered her crib to the middle but I think it's time we lower it all the way.
She has been a little fussier than normal lately because she is getting in her top teeth. Since she has started getting teeth, I have started feeding her some table food. Her favorite is pancakes and Cheerios for breakfast. She makes a giant mess but loves being able to feed herself. We've also tried some mashed potatoes and applesauce.
She is weighing somewhere around 25 pounds and wears 18-24 month clothing. She is still really big for her age but I'm hoping that with crawling and eventually walking, she'll begin to slim down some. She is also wearing size 5 diapers which is really funny since Blakely only ever made it to size 5 before being potty trained at 2 1/2 years old. At this rate, she'll grow out of diapers really quickly which could be a good incentive to potty train early. :)

Rowan also got to experience her first snow this month. She wasn't really impressed by it at first but eventually warmed up to it enough to let me take her picture in it. My sweet little snow bunny!!
She has started saying "Dada" but has yet to say "Mama." But we're still working on it. Of course, Blakely keeps trying to get to to say "Bakey" so we'll see which one she says first!

Happy 9 months my sweet girl!!

Baby Makes 5!

Well, it's definitely sooner than expected but Kevin and I are expecting our 3rd little bundle of joy! It was a complete shock to both of us (we literally stared at the pregnancy test with our mouths wide open). But once we got over the initial shock, we were really excited.
In fact, had we found out 24 hours earlier, I'm not sure my reaction would have been the same. I found out on a Sunday afternoon after church. I had been feeling tired lately but just figured it was from getting up early to workout and then being on my feet all day at work. I had also been experiencing lower back pain for a few weeks but thought it was from a pulled muscle since I had started a new workout program.
So that Sunday morning, we were on our way to church and I started getting carsick and I only ever get carsick when I'm pregnant. I immediately began praying, "God please don't let me be pregnant yet. I'm just not ready." I didn't say anything to Kevin about it but obsessed over it the entire way to church and all through the worship music. Now don't get me wrong, I definitely wanted another child. But we were really hoping that Rowan would be a little older before we had another one.
So then we sat down for the sermon and the entire sermon that morning was about the blessing of children. Our pastor spoke of how children are such a gift from God and how it is one of the only blessings in life that God gives us that we question. He made the comment that we would never question the blessing of an inheritance or a raise at work. Yet when God gives us more children, we come back with," Now's not the right time," or "I can't afford another child right now." He started naming all the excuses that I was currently giving to God.
So during the sermon I just thought, "Ok. I know I'm pregnant and I'm going to find out after church. Children are such a blessing and I will be joyful over this blessing rather than question it."
So then after church, I went and bought a pregnancy test and sure enough, it was positive!
Our sweet little one is expected to arrive around mid-September. Since I'm 99% sure this will be my last pregnancy, I'm going to try and document it as often as possible. So here goes!
Getting a little pooch!
How far along: 10 weeks
Weight Gain: None yet!
Maternity Clothes: Thankfully not yet. Some clothes are getting a bit tight but I'm going to make them last as long as possible.
Sleep: Great so far! I'm already having to use the bathroom a lot though. :(
Best Moment This Month: Finding out
Worst Moment This Month: Being exhausted by 6:30 and having no energy
Cravings: Nothing major yet! Maybe Mexican a little more than normal.
Food Aversions: Unfortunately my Shakeology. I've had to stop drinking the chocolate for now as it makes me queasy.
My Favorite Things: These amazing prenatal vitamins! They make taking vitamins so much more enjoyable.

Rowan: 8 Months

My sweet little girl is now 8 months old and it is so hard to believe! I think I have really cherished this first year with her a little more than I did with Blakely because I realize how quickly it goes. Rowan is such a fun and happy baby and is learning to do new things every day.

She is still my little super chunk and is currently wearing 18-24 month clothing. She is in size 4 diapers and I joke that she will have to wear adult diapers before she is fully potty trained. :)

She is easily going from her tummy to a seated position and is starting to crawl (but only backwards). She loves playing with her toys in the floor and loves it even more when her big sister plays with her.
She is starting to eat solid foods with her fingers. She loves the little yogurt pieces and Gerber puffs. We tried small pieces of banana but I don't think she was ready for that quite yet.

She has recently started to patty cake and she is fascinated by clapping her hands. She will get the biggest smile on her face and get really excited! She is also started to wave but will only do it sporadically. She has also finally started sleeping through the night this week. We finally had to do a little sleep training and let her cry during the middle of the night when she would wake up and want a bottle. However, it only took about 4 nights and now she is no longer waking up (which makes Mommy very happy)!

Being the mommy of two precious girls is the biggest blessing ever! I thank God everyday for the time I have with them and the opportunity I have to be their mother.
